Our unique two-day Landscape Painting Retreats take place at exclusive locations May through October, Thursday through Sunday. Alla Prima Studio provides all materials and essential techniques for painting landscapes from observation. Our exercises and demonstrations have been developed to benefit each individual’s painting experience and technical exercises accommodate all skill levels. You'll complete the workshop feeling inspired, rejuvenated and confident to continue with your personal creative process on your own.
Seasonally we visit Vineyards and Master Gardens to paint in fields of Iris, Lavender and Roses. Courses incorporate yoga, meditation, and private tours of world class art collections. Deluxe packages include accommodations at Napa Valley's most exclusive resorts and destination workshops bring you to inspiring artist communities. Your Instructor Alla Prima Studio founder and talented artist Gretchen Kimball, a Napa Valley native, has devoted her life to intensive international study of the fine arts since 1993. Following her dreams to travel the world studying fine arts, Gretchen's artistic adventures led her to the finest international creative communities and institutions.
In 2005, having completed a BFA in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, Gretchen brought her global journey full circle, returning to the Napa Valley to settle into studio work.
