D'Ambruoso Studios is committed to the plein air tradition of painting the landscape.
Our mission is to provide artists with intense personalized instruction in landscape painting utilizing oils, watercolors and pastels within the plein air tradition.
Composition, value, color and drawing skills are the predominant themes and with only 12 artists maximum/group, there is plenty of one-on-one attention. Special uninstructed "paint-outs" for groups of 12+ are also offered.
Artists paint/sketch and receive constructive critiques daily. However, we are not all work and no play! We believe the Artist is also inspired by experiencing Italy’s traditions and culture.
We visit leading wineries, olive oil producers, and paint in the enchanting villages of Positano, Ravello, and Taormina. Italy always charms us with its peeks into ancient living, dramatic cliffs tumbling to the sea, rolling hills and cypress trees. It's a feast for the eyes!
Artists’ guests may participate fully with prearranged programs such as cooking lessons, hiking, and special interest tours.
In Provence, France, our week is spent on a secluded, restored historic farm within easy reach of the charming villages we'll be painting.
In the US, Old Lyme, CT, and Block Island, RI, participants paint the scenes that inspired the American Impressionists.
