Johnnie's School of Classical Oil Painting provides accelerated classes in traditional oil painting for the developing artist. Most art schools expect students to spend months and years learning the basics, when what they really need is a "crash" course that provides the foundation for further artistic development on their own time.
This accelerated development is accomplished through the assignment of specific exercises to be completed by each student to demonstrate skill and understanding of each subject and related concepts. Students must complete all assignments to receive course credit. Certificates of completion are awarded with an ultimate "Graduation" certificate on completion of all six CORE workshops.
Thus, Johnnie's methods are designed to teach the student traditional painting techniques which they can then build on as they progress and develop their own painting style. These classes are for beginner or intermediate painters who would benefit from a structured curriculum.
Other workshops are designed to accommodate the more advanced painter who is looking for experienced guidance and critique for further development in their own style and work.
Workshops held at locations outside Johnnie's studio are "project oriented", intended to develop skill and technique.
In-studio & on-location classes that specialize in classical oil painting, drawing & painting from life for portraits, still-life & landscape; project-oriented programs that teach & develop oil-painting technique.
