Artist, teacher, mentor, friend

Dear artist friends, family and collectors,

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our beloved friend, brilliant plein air and figurative painter, gifted teacher, generous colleague and mentor on December 10, 2023. Randy's untimely passing is a huge loss to us all.

Some of you have heard this news in social media postings or other means. Randy was at the height of his artistic career – with a gorgeous new studio, professional recognition, and a loving community and family, when it all came to a sudden halt. It is now public knowledge that he took his own life.

We celebrate Randy’s life and career as an artist and those he touched with his creative energy, sense of adventure, love of beauty and nature, compassion, knowledge and collaborative spirit.

Following in the footsteps of his mentors, he met students where they were, whether amateur or professional artist, and taught them to employ expressive brushwork, to hone their craft and to trust themselves.

In honor of Randall's memory, friends have set up a GoFundMe campaign for Randy’s beloved wife of 25 years, Carol, to help alleviate immediate financial pressures during this time of transition.

Please be patient during this time of transition. We will respond to your inquiries once plans are in place for preserving Randy’s personal and artistic legacy.

Join his mailing list for the latest updates and news for paying tribute to a man who gave so much of himself to the world.

Warmest regards,

Randy’s team
